Research, development & quality

Our metallic swivel sliding bearings must work in applications in which hydrodynamic effects are excluded per se; there is only a rudimentary transmission of the bearing force via fluids. Frequent change of sign of the movement vectors lead to high sliding friction forces. In case of low angular speeds and high tribological stress, these tangential forces will cause major energy and material losses with early bearing failure.

Frequently, the material combinations combined with the process-related physical input quantities X = { p (=contact pressure),  v  (=sliding speed vector) }, regarding the effective wear mechanisms, are designed improperly or on the limit.

In the friction joint of metallic sliding materials, in contact with hard steel axles, there are high losses{Z} caused by energy and material dissipation - despite good maintenance and lubrication.

Our expertise, based on many years of application-related research and development, provides the level of safety that the material combinations are adequately adapted to the various tribological applications. For more than 30 years, the Company has been active in this field with great success.
The reduction of the loss value “material wear” serves the purpose of conserving the environment because resources can be saved and pollutant emissions avoided or reduced (green tribology). For example, copper contaminations from the dissipative use in the joints of building machinery destroy our ecosystems due to their poisonous action on the biocenosis.

A specifically developed test rig allows the simultaneous test of 4 plain bearings under the same stress. The effect of the three-body abrasion wear can be simulated by an abrasion test vessel connected to the sliding joint. The following dependencies can be analysed:

µ (friction coeff.) = f ( φ, p, v, t, abrasive grain)

T (joint temperature) = f ( φ, p, v, t, abrasive grain)

The equipment of the materials laboratory also allows the execution of structural examinations, hardness measurements, NHD, SHD tests etc. (HRC, HB, HV).

The requirements of our customers only allow highest quality. It goes without saying that we are therefore certified according to DIN ISO 9001 and audited by various national and international business partners.
